How To Get Your Videos Recommended By ChatGPT (And Other AI Tools)

Ever wonder how some YouTube videos magically show up when you're using ChatGPT to look something up?

Like, you're asking a question — and boom! — not just a helpful answer, but a video tutorial appears too.

What if that video could be YOUR VIDEO?

In this post, I’m diving into how to actually get your YouTube videos recommended by ChatGPT (and other AI-powered search tools). We’re going to look at what really works, what doesn’t, and how to boost your visibility using strategies that are both smart and sustainable.

Let’s get into it.

Why This Even Matters

Here’s the thing: getting your video recommended by AI tools like ChatGPT means reaching people who are actively looking for the kind of content you’re creating.

These viewers are your ideal audience — they’re not just casually scrolling YouTube, they’re searching for answers. That makes this strategy not just about more views, but about more quality views.

When I stumbled across a checklist from a brand I was working with — titled something like “How to Get Your YouTube Content Ranked by AI” — it piqued my interest. But I wasn’t about to follow it blindly. So, naturally, I turned to the source: ChatGPT itself.

Let’s walk through what I learned.

AI Ranking Tips: What Actually Works (According to ChatGPT)

1. Should You Use Question-Based Titles?

Claim: Use titles like “How to Build a Website for Your Business” instead of “Ultimate Website Builder Guide.”

ChatGPT’s Take:
Partially true. For YouTube? Absolutely. Search-friendly, clear titles that match user intent perform well.
❌ For ChatGPT? Not really. It doesn’t “scan” titles the way Google does. It’s smarter — more context-based than keyword-matching.

My Takeaway: Still a good idea. These types of titles help with YouTube SEO and clarity for your viewer. Just don’t expect them alone to get your video into ChatGPT’s suggestions.

2. Repeating the Question in Your Intro

Claim: Say the question again at the start of your video for better “matchability.”

ChatGPT’s Take:
🤷 Minor benefit for YouTube — can help viewer retention because people instantly know you’re answering their question.
Myth for ChatGPT — repeating the query doesn’t help with ranking.

Reality Check: Do it for the human, not the bot. Anything that helps the viewer stay engaged longer helps you in the algorithm. So yes, keep that question in the intro, just don’t expect it to be an AI magnet.

3. Add Chapters + Full Transcript

Claim: Use timestamped chapters and include a full transcript in the description or on a blog.

ChatGPT’s Take:
Chapters = Good. YouTube favors them — better user experience, easier navigation, and helps with ranking.
📝 Transcripts? Only helpful if published on an authoritative website. YouTube's auto-generated captions are already indexed.

Strategy Tip:
Want ChatGPT to “see” your video? Put the transcript in a blog post on your website — ideally one that’s public and gets some traffic. That boosts your chance of being found by ChatGPT and other AI tools.

4. Tagging Videos with AI-Relevant Keywords

Claim: Use tags like “AI website builder tutorial” to get picked up by AI search.

ChatGPT’s Take:
👎 Outdated. YouTube tags carry little weight these days. They’re mainly useful for correcting misspellings.
🚫 Completely irrelevant for ChatGPT — it doesn’t read YouTube tags.

Bottom Line: Skip the tagging stress. Focus your energy elsewhere.

5. Share Videos on “AI-Indexed” Platforms Like Reddit or Twitter

Claim: Distribute videos on Reddit, Quora, and Twitter to get noticed by AI.

ChatGPT’s Take:

🟡 Some truth. Yes, OpenAI’s models train on public data from those sites. But no, it’s not a guarantee your video will be included. And even if it is, that alone won’t get you recommended.

So what helps?
Consistent visibility and engagement on authoritative sites — especially if you’re sharing valuable content that gets upvoted, shared, or linked.

So… What Does Help Get Your Videos Recommended by ChatGPT?

Let’s break it down into four real strategies that actually work.

1. High Real-World Authority

If your channel is referenced often across the web — in blogs, tutorials, articles — you’re more likely to show up in ChatGPT’s responses.

👉 What to do:

  • Get backlinks to your videos

  • Embed videos in blog posts

  • Collaborate with other creators or brands

2. Post the Transcript on Your Website

This might be the most powerful thing you can do. If your video’s transcript is published on a crawlable blog post that’s linked to and shared, ChatGPT can “see” it — unlike the auto-captions that live inside YouTube.

👉 What to do:

  • Repurpose your videos into blog posts

  • Include the full transcript (cleaned up, readable)

  • Add SEO-optimized headings and links

3. Answer Common Questions

This one’s simple. If your video clearly answers a question people are commonly asking, you’re more likely to show up in responses.

👉 What to do:

  • Research popular questions on Reddit, Google, and YouTube

  • Create videos that answer those questions directly

  • Use clear titles and straightforward intros

4. Nail Your YouTube Metadata

This won’t help with ChatGPT directly — but it helps you rank better on YouTube, which in turn makes you more visible to AI tools that crawl popular videos.

👉 What to do:

  • Use clear titles

  • Write helpful descriptions

  • Add chapters

  • Upload custom thumbnails

TLDR — Here's Your AI-Optimized YouTube Checklist:

✅ Use clear, question-style titles
✅ Repeat the viewer’s question in your intro (for retention)
✅ Include timestamped chapters
✅ Repurpose your transcript in a blog post on your website
✅ Focus on building authority through backlinks, embeds, and shares
✅ Prioritize human experience — retention and engagement still rule
❌ Don’t rely on tags
❌ Don’t expect social media links to work AI magic without engagement
